Space Satellite Ring

Space Satellite Ring

"Wait, that doesn't look like Earth. Where's the blue sky? Where's t-the grass?" Wall-e, 2008

Piece No 2. of the 2001: A Space Odessey collection.

Designed in the beginning of 2010.

Cold, sculptural, weighty,

Yet floats in space as if it were light as a feather.

Silver dish suspended in dark black.

Inspired by the seminal works of Space Mania: in 1968 it was David Bowie's seminal album, Space Oddity and 2001: A Space Odyssey where space was seen as a promising frontier. 40 years later in 2008 Pixar's Wall-e dark humored-ly suggested space as a back up plan after we've squandered our first house, Earth. It's up to us which path we choose.

Endlessly shiny, irresistibly sculptural.

This little mirror bowl is so pleasing to the eye.

A highly polished concave dish sits on an equally reflective half round band. You will want to keep staring at this ring, it looks like a tiny mirage upon the hand.

Dimensions: Dish is 17mm is diameter, band is 5mm wide.

See its companion piece the Space Needle Ring.

Sterling Silver, made to order in sizes 4-10.

All pieces are wrapped and shipped in secondhand materials. Thank you for supporting my efforts to be eco-friendly!
