Space Needle Ring

Space Needle Ring

"For here

Am I sitting in a tin can

Far above the world"-David Bowie

Piece No 1. of the 2001: A Space Odessey collection.

Designed in the summer of 2010.

Cold, sculptural, weighty,

Yet floats in space as if it were light as a feather.

Silver pendant suspended in dark black.

Inspired by the seminal works of Space Mania: in 1968 it was David Bowie's seminal album, Space Oddity and 2001: A Space Odyssey where space was seen as a promising frontier. 40 years later in 2008 Pixar's Wall-e dark humored-ly suggested space as a back up plan after we've squandered our first house, Earth. It's up to us which path we choose.

A sleek, sculptural needle, this ring visually elongates the fingers. Mirror-finished, it's a minimal but sharp (literally) statement.

Dimensions: needle is 40 mm long, band is 2mm thick.

White Bronze.
